Where did the money go from the 2016 bond that was supposed to build the new high school?
Answer: 2016 bond included $120 M for the new high school. The District has spent $20+ M for site development and to deconstruct the previous buildings on that site. $90 M is still sitting in the Capital Projects account waiting. Now the site is ready and the District has the building permit in hand, ready to build.

The same small group that is placing all the vote no signs, spent 6 years fighting the new high school in court and then in the permitting process. Those six years of delays coupled with the pandemic inflation particularly for construction projects added $150+ M to the project costs. Thus the need for additional funding to complete the project, included in the 2024 bond.
But the high school is just 28% of the bond package, so there is much more to this, than just building another high school such as roof replacement and repairs and HVAC replacements which total more than the funds for the new high school.
