Be aware of misinformation!
Unfortunately, we have heard there is a group that is sending out misinformation via postcards and photocopies to our school community. It is disheartening to see that this group is spreading inaccurate information to try and confuse voters about the facts of this election and hurt our kids.
Local levy funding is vital to continue these programs and services for our local students.
The facts are clear and the documentation is easy to fact check. The information is on our website and on the ISD site, too. If you need help finding answers to any questions about these 3 renewal levies – please email volunteersforissaquahschools@gmail.com and we will point you to the correct, factual information.
Prop #1 – the EP&O Levy – funds vital programs for all schools in our district and keeps our nurses, mental health counselors, special ed, career & safety programs. View the list of line items that will be renewed if this levy is approved here.
Prop #2 Capital Levy funds technology, critical repairs and will help complete construction on High School #4 which is needed to alleviate the crowding at Skyline and Issaquah High School. High school enrollment has exceeded projections and HS#4 will alleviate crowding at both of these schools. Click here to view the High School enrollment graph. The school district has worked diligently for several years and made changes to the original plans to be good neighbors to the surrounding area residents including doing the following:
• Increase tree buffers to 3 times what is required by law
• Ballfield layout changed so the outfield will be facing 228th
• Number of tennis courts reduced to allow for more tree buffers between schools and neighbors
• There are no additional practice fields
• Grandstands will be facing away from neighbors, creating less noise and light disturbances
Project costs have increased considerably since the 2016 election as the result of delays due to litigation, related inflation, added permitting costs and new site requirements.
Prop #3 – Transportation (Bus) Levy is a one year levy and will be drop off after 2023. This will fund 64 buses over the course of 4 years and will keep our student transportation in line with safety standards. With over 7,500 students being bussed every morning and afternoon, the district continues to strive to keep our transportation system working efficiently.
Don’t forget that since 2016 the district has built two new schools (Cedar Trails Elementary and Cougar Mountain Middle School), rebuilt Pine Lake Middle School and expanded/remodeled Cougar Ridge, Discovery, Endeavour, Sunset and Maple Hills Elementary – all funded by the 2016 Bond.
Do not be swayed by the groups that are sending out misinformation that do not line up with the facts! Vote Yes to renew our (3) Levies! Local Levies support our local students.
Thank you for your support!
