Superintendent Recommends 3 Levy Measures for April Ballot

Superintendent Ron Thiele said during the Jan. 27 School Board meeting that he is recommending that the School Board place three levy measures before voters on the April 26 ballot: a Transportation (bus) Levy, a replacement Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy, and a Capital Levy that would include funds for Technology as well as Critical Repairs and Construction.

The board unanimously approved placing the Transportation Levy on the April 26 ballot. Board members will continue their discussion and deliberations about the EP&O Levy and the Capital Levy at the Feb. 10 meeting.

After the consideration/adoption of resolutions by the board placing levy measures on the ballot, election regulations require the district to appoint up to three members each to “Pro” and “Con” committees for each levy proposition. Volunteers serving on these committees would write statements that would be included in the voter’s pamphlet that King County Elections produces. There will be one committee each for “Pro” and “Con” for each of the three levy measures: Transportation, EP&O Levy, and Capital Levy. Anyone who is interested in serving on these committees may email Diane Ghanbari at ghanbarid@issaquah.wednet.edu by 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7. To be considered, please include your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and a brief statement of interest.
